SENATOR CARDIN NOMINATES PRINCE GEORGE’S CO. COUPLE FOR CONGRESSIONAL ANGEL IN ADOPTION AWARD

WASHINGTON-
U.S.
Senator Benjamin L. Cardin (D-MD) has nominated Samuel and Mildred Stewart of Prince George’s County as one of this year’s Congressional
Angels in Adoption for being foster parents to more than 40 children and adopting three in addition to their grandson.

“The Stewarts have selflessly dedicated their retirement to providing homes to neglected children,” said
Senator Cardin.
“Their contribution does not stop there; they are also leaders in the foster care community.”

Since 1997, Mrs. Stewart has served as the President of the Prince George’s County Foster Parent Association and she is currently Acting President of the State of Maryland Foster Parent Association.
Since 2001, she has also been an Assistant Co-Trainer for the Prince George’s County Parent Resource Information Development Education training program.

The Congressional
Angels in Adoption program is sponsored by the Congressional Coalition on Adoption Institute (CCAI), which is a non-partisan, non-profit organization dedicated to raising congressional and public awareness about the tens of thousands of foster children in this country and the millions of orphans around the world in need of permanent, safe, and loving homes.
  The
Angels in Adoption program was created in 1999 to raise public awareness of the many different ways that committed individuals can help children and families through adoption.

This year’s nominees will be honored at a national ceremony held in the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center in Washington, D.C. on Wednesday, September 30 by the Congressional Coalition on Adoption Institute (CCAI).
