WASHINGTON— U.S. Senators Ben Cardin and Chris Van Hollen and U.S. Congressman David Trone (all D-Md.) today announced $75,000 in federal funding, along with $75,000 in local matching funds for dental education equipment at Hagerstown Community College. Students enrolled in the Fall 2022 Dental Hygiene and Assisting program will benefit from new dental chairs that are up-to-date with today’s dental health and hygiene standards.
“Expanding our health care workforce across our state is vital to ensuring Marylanders get quality care no matter where they live. These funds will purchase new dental equipment for Hagerstown Community College to ensure our students receive state-of-the-art training that will prepare them for future careers in the healthcare industry,” said the lawmakers. “This federal investment will help provide high-quality, equitable dental care to all Marylanders and set these students up for success to practice in and serve their own communities.”
Since 1946, Hagerstown Community College has served its community by helping students gain valuable skills for better jobs and educational opportunities. More than 175,000 students have enrolled in the community college with the goal of earning a degree, taking classes to transfer to a university, learning new skills, or preparing for a new career.
