WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Ben Cardin (D-Md.), a senior member of the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee, released the following statement in response to the announcement by the Chesapeake Bay Foundation that it was transferring the Holly Beach Farm property to the Maryland Department of Natural Resources (DNR).
“This is great news. The Chesapeake Bay Foundation has made a smart and thoughtful choice in selecting the Maryland Department of Natural Resources to take ownership of Holly Beach Farm in Anne Arundel County. Transferring this land to state ownership will remove any doubt that public access to the Chesapeake Bay is a high priority. I look forward to learning more about DNR’s future plans for water and wildlife conservation, and how we can work together to sustain Marylanders’ direct connection to the Bay.”
