CARDIN, MIKULSKI ANNOUNCE $35K FOR ROCK HALL VOLUNTEER FIRE CO.

WASHINGTON –
U.S.
Senators Benjamin L. Cardin and
Barbara A. Mikulski (both D-MD) announced today that the Rock Hall Volunteer Fire Company has been awarded a $35,570 USDA Rural Development grant to replace old, worn emergency equipment with safer, up-to-date gear that will provide a greater level of protection for volunteer firemen and EMS responders.

“I am extremely proud of our first responders. They are on the front lines every day protecting our communities and keeping us safe,” said
Senator Cardin.
“I want to ensure that Rock Hall’s emergency workers to have the highest-quality equipment they need to stay safe and get the job done.”

“I know how important this funding is to Maryland communities – often it’s the difference between life and death.  If you are willing to put your life on the line every day, you should never feel short-changed by your government,” said
Senator Mikulski. “Maryland’s first responders can count on me to provide federal funding for the equipment, training and services they need and deserve.”

The Rural Development grant program was created to improve the economy and quality of life in rural America.
The program helps support essential services and infrastructure improvements, and promotes economic development by supporting loans to businesses through banks and community-managed lending pools.
