Cardin Lauds Biden Actions to Protect Federal Workers

WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Ben Cardin (D-Md.), who proudly represents tens of thousands of federal workers in Maryland and has been a leader in the Senate defending the rights of federal workers nationwide, issued the following statement in response to President Joe Biden’s executive order “Protecting the Federal Workforce.”

“I applaud President Biden for taking swift action to repeal former President Trump’s mean-spirited and dangerous Executive Orders attacking collective bargaining, official time, and other rights of our Nation’s hardworking federal employees. Donald Trump wanted to fire career, non-partisan civil servants and replace them with ill-prepared and inexperienced sycophants, often who worked counter to the very agencies they were dropped in. I salute our dedicated men and women who have spent the last four years resisting his administration’s depredations. I am glad that federal workers can continue serving our Nation, now with the knowledge that the President and his administration support them in their vital mission.”
