As we come to the close of another year and celebrate Thanksgiving, we at WBAL-TV 11 pause to give thanks for those who make our community a very special place to live.

Special thanks to U.S. Rep. Dutch Ruppersberger, D-District 2, and U.S. Sen. Ben Cardin, D-Maryland, for their Hotels for Heroes campaign that allows Americans to donate hotel reward points to members of the armed forces and their families who are traveling for military health care. This is an outgrowth of Ruppersberger’s Hero Miles campaign, which collected frequent flyer miles for military families who have now used 25,000 tickets provided by donated miles.
