An internship in Senator Ben Cardin’s office provides an exciting educational and a behind-the-scenes look at the federal legislative process. Interns will provide basic assistance to the staff by helping with administrative tasks, researching and summarizing proposed legislation, attending hearings and briefings, and drafting constituent correspondence. The selection process is highly competitive.
Cardin Internship Requirements:
Senator Cardin’s office is open Monday – Friday from 9AM – 6PM in Washington, D.C., and 9AM – 5PM in Baltimore. Fall and Spring applicants are required to work at least 16 hours per week. Summer internships are full-time positions lasting approximately six (6) weeks. All interested applicants should apply online. You must create an account to access the application. Senator Cardin’s Office strives to pay interns who meet the following requirements, up to $15 per hour:
• Must be a United States citizen and a Maryland resident or student at a Maryland school
• Enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program, or scheduled to graduate immediately prior to the internship
• Must not receive any other compensation for the internship
