Cardin Responds to Trump Administration Decision to Abandon Plans to Dissolve OPM

WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Ben Cardin (D-Md.) released the following statement in response to reports that the Administration will no longer follow through with plans to shutter the Office of Personnel Management (OPM).

“President Trump has finally realized that a bipartisan majority in Congress will not allow him to erase a vital federal agency from existence. OPM serves as the human resources hub for millions of public servants. Dissolving the agency and losing its expertise would have had a damaging effect across the country. I urge the president to stop his overall war on our federal workforce, the vast majority of which are career civil servants dedicated to serving the American people nationwide and around the world. They deserve our respect and appreciation.”
