Cardin, Van Hollen, Warner, Kaine Call on McConnell to Bring D.C. Statehood Up for a Vote

WASHINGTON – Today, U.S. Senators Ben Cardin and Chris Van Hollen (Both D-Md.), and Senators Mark Warner and Tim Kaine (Both D-Va.) released the following statement upon House passage of legislation to make D.C. the 51st state:

“Maryland and Virginia’s neighbors in D.C. deserve the representation that states have. Today, the House took a historic vote to pass legislation to make D.C. the 51st state. Leader McConnell should bring this bill up for a vote in the Senate immediately. There is no good reason hundreds of thousands of Americans should be denied their civil rights and subject to taxation without representation.”
