WASHINGTON, DC –
U.S. Senators Benjamin L. Cardin and Barbara A. Mikulski (both D-MD) today praised Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Patrick Leahy (D-VT) for swiftly moving the nominations of Marylanders Ellen Hollander and James Bredar to fill vacancies on the United States District Court for the District of Maryland.
  The Senate Judiciary Committee today unanimously approved both nominations by voice vote. The full Senate will now consider the nominations.

“Judge Hollander and Judge Bredar are dedicated public servants with stellar records, a commitment to the rule of law, and strong civic engagement in Maryland. Both of these nominees possess the qualities needed to protect the rights of all Americans found in our Constitution.

 We look forward to their expeditious Senate confirmations,” Senators Mikulski and Cardin, a member of the Judiciary Committee, said in a joint statement.

Hollander currently serves as a Maryland Court of Special Appeals Judge and Bredar is a U.S. Magistrate Judge.
  If confirmed, Judge Hollander will occupy the seat formerly held by Judge Andre Davis, who was confirmed to the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit last November. Judge Bredar would fill the vacancy created by Judge J. Frederick Motz’s notification of senior status last November.
