BALTIMORE – U.S. Senator Ben Cardin (D-Md.), a member of the Senate Committee on Finance and the Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship, today toured the headquarters and discussed trade and tax issues with the leaders of Pompeian, Inc., whose olive oils, vinegars, cooking wines and other products are trusted staples in kitchen cabinets across America. After establishing a headquarters in Baltimore in 1906, the company became America’s first national brand of imported extra virgin olive oil. Today, Pompeian is the country’s best-selling brand of red wine vinegar and markets a wide range of other products, including organic and artisanal varieties of olive oil. It is the only Extra Virgin Olive Oil certified by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) for quality.

Pompeian is the latest stop on Senator Cardin’s “Made in Maryland” jobs tour, which highlights the diversity of Maryland products and the Marylanders who produce them. Monday’s visit underscored the many assets of a Baltimore business location – one of the longest continuously operated sites in Baltimore.
