WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Ben Cardin, Ranking Member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, issued the following statement following the adoption of the IAEA Board of Governors Resolution on Iran’s nuclear program.
“The Resolution adopted today by the International Atomic Energy Agency’s Board of Governors to close its investigation into the possible military dimensions (PMDs) of Iran’s nuclear program leaves us with more questions than it does answers. What we do know is that Iran, through covert activities, attempted to advance a nuclear weapons program. During the investigation, however, Iran was not honest about its nuclear weapons program nor was the IAEA given unfettered access to all the people, places, and documents necessary for a comprehensive investigation into Iran’s past activities.”
