Senator Ben Cardin meets with Darrell Brown, Director of the Charles County Department of Economic Development; Marcia Keeth, Deputy Director of the Charles County Department of Economic Development; Peter Murphy, President of the Charles County Board of Commissioners; and small business leaders from across Southern Maryland.

“Southern Maryland has become one of the fastest-growing economic engines in the state,” said Senator Cardin. “I’m going to continue working hard to make sure the region has every resource to keep expanding and fostering the growth of Southern Maryland’s vibrant small business community. Rapid transit, infrastructure expansion, regulation reform – these are all critical elements to modernizing Southern Maryland and helping its businesses stay competitive. My meeting with local business owners and Charles County’s economic development team was tremendously productive toward these ends. They were forthright about the challenges they face and came prepared with solutions. I look forward to working with them in the coming years to bring those solutions and our shared goals for Southern Maryland to fruition.”
