Cardin Announces $4.7 million for Baltimore City Summer Jobs Program
Senator Cardin joined Congressman Cummings and Mayor Dixon in announcing $4.7 million in federal funding for the Baltimore City Youth Works summer jobs program at the Cylburn Arboretum. Senator Cardin specifically requested $1.2 million of the funding to create a six-week Youth Works program in "green" jobs such as horticulture, wildlife management and urban forestry. More than 7,000 students are employed by the summer jobs program.

Cardin Meets With Russian Ambassador, Deputy Foreign Minister
Senator Cardin, Chair of the U.S. Helsinki Commission, hosted a meeting with Russian Ambassador to the U.S. Sergey I. Kislayak (R) and Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Grushko (L). The participants discussed Russia's future relationship with the U.S. and Europe and its role in Afghanistan. Senator Cardin is committed to engaging Russia on issues of mutual interest. |

Cardin Announces Service Academy Appointees
Senator Cardin invited Maryland students that had accepted appointments to the five U.S. Service Academies to Washington, DC for a tour of the Capitol. Senator Cardin is privileged to have nominated some of the best and brightest Marylanders and is proud to give them the opportunity to serve their nation. This year, 16 high school graduates from Maryland accepted appointments.
