Included in the grants is $700,000 to help horse farms in Frederick and Carroll Counties reduce nutrient runoff into the Bay. Horse farms produce thousands of pounds of nitrogen and phosphorous annually, severely impacting the health of the Bay. | ||

During a speech at Salisbury University, Senator Cardin warned about the dangers of global warming, saying that Maryland is particularly susceptible because 12% of the state has been designated as special Flood Hazard Area. He also discussed the need to invest in alternative energy sources and reduce the United States� dependence on foreign energy. |
